Privacy Policy
In short: we collect your email if you subscribe, learn about your orders from Vinoshipper if you buy, and use a small amount of analytics to see how people use this site. We connect that activity to your email once you subscribe or buy, and we tell you exactly how below. We do not sell your information or share it for targeted advertising. You can opt out of analytics on the Your Privacy Choices page.
Who we are
This website, domaineriviere.com (the “Site”), is operated by Vineyard Eleven Cellars LLC, doing business as Domaine de la Rivière (“we,” “us”), a family winery at 6157 Starr Road, Windsor, CA 95492.
Wine purchases, wine-club memberships, and gifts are sold and fulfilled by Vinoshipper (Zero Link Markets, Inc.), which is the merchant of record and handles age verification, payment, tax, and shipping compliance. When you check out you are on Vinoshipper’s pages and Vinoshipper’s privacy policy applies to that part of your visit. This policy explains what we collect and do.
This Site is for adults 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter signup: your email address, the date you signed up, and that you signed up on the website.
- Email or phone contact: whatever you include when you write to marla@domaineriviere.com or call us (for example, to reserve a tasting or ask about corporate gifts).
- Purchases and club memberships (via Vinoshipper): after you buy, Vinoshipper sends us your email address, order number, the wines and quantities, and the order total. For club members and repeat customers, our customer records may also include your name, phone number, shipping address, date of birth (required by law for alcohol shipping), membership tier, order history, and whether you have a payment method saved with Vinoshipper. We never receive or store your card number.
Information collected automatically when you use the Site
- A random visitor ID stored in your browser. It does not contain your name or email. It lets us count unique visitors and connect a purchase back to the visit that led to it.
- A session ID that lasts until you close the tab.
- What you do on the Site: pages viewed, wines viewed, searches and filters, buttons and links clicked, items added to or removed from the cart, and when you begin checkout.
- How you arrived: the referring website, the landing page, campaign tags in the link you clicked (UTM parameters), and advertising click identifiers (“gclid” from Google, “fbclid” from Meta) if they are present in the URL. We keep the very first of these (“first touch”) so we can tell which channel introduced you to us.
- Device information: whether you are on a phone, tablet, or computer; screen and window size; and your browser language. We do not store your IP address in our own database, although our hosting provider logs it as part of normal web traffic.
- Site health signals: when you click a phone or email link (which one, not what you write), when a page is not found (the address and where you came from), and if the Site itself throws an error in your browser (the error message, so we can fix it). Our hosting provider also measures how fast pages load on your device.
Information we get from others
- Vinoshipper (order details, as above).
- Google Business Profile: the public reviews people leave about us on Google, including the reviewer’s display name, profile photo, star rating, and text, which we republish on our Reviews page.
We do not collect precise location, biometric data, government IDs, or financial account numbers, and we do not use “fingerprinting” to identify your device.
How we connect your email to your activity
This is the part most privacy policies bury, so we are saying it plainly: when you subscribe to our newsletter or make a purchase, we link your email address to the visitor ID in your browser. From then on, the activity described above — including activity from earlier visits in the same browser — is associated with your email in our records. We do this so we can send you things you are actually interested in (for example, the release of a wine you looked at) and understand which of our marketing works.
You can stop this at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page, which turns off activity collection and removes the stored IDs and email from your browser. You can also ask us to delete the linked history (see “Your choices and rights”).
How we use information
- To run the Site and keep it working and secure.
- To send the newsletter and occasional emails about releases, allocations, events, and the wine club, if you subscribed. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- To reply when you contact us and to arrange tastings, gifts, and events.
- To fulfil, reconcile, and support orders and club memberships together with Vinoshipper.
- To understand which channels, campaigns, pages, and wines lead to visits, signups, and sales, and to improve the Site.
- To display customer reviews.
- To comply with alcohol-beverage, tax, and other legal requirements, and to protect our rights.
We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use artificial-intelligence systems to profile visitors.

We use a small number of first-party and third-party cookies and browser-storage items:

We do not use advertising cookies, and no advertising network places cookies through our Site. Our fonts are hosted by us, not by Google.
Analytics providers
- Google Analytics 4. We send the events described above to Google, without your email address, along with the random visitor ID. Google uses this to produce reports for us. We have turned off Google’s “Signals” and ads-personalization features, so Google does not use this data to build advertising profiles of you across other sites. Google’s own description is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
- Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Our hosting provider counts page views and measures page-load performance using a short-lived hash rather than a cookie, and keeps no personal identifiers.
- Our own database. The event stream described above is stored in our database (hosted by Supabase in the United States).
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out: our analytics does not run, Google Analytics is not loaded, and the visitor ID and email are removed from your browser storage. You can achieve the same thing manually on the Your Privacy Choices page. Strictly necessary items (the age-gate flag and your opt-out preference) remain so the Site works.
Do third parties collect information about you across websites through our Site?
No advertising network does. Google Analytics receives the pseudonymous data described above under Google’s terms as our processor. Vinoshipper’s shopping cart is embedded on our wine pages and Vinoshipper may use its own cookies inside that cart and on its checkout pages, as described in Vinoshipper’s privacy policy. When you open our Vineyards map page, your browser loads map tiles and boundary data directly from the OpenStreetMap Foundation and other open-data servers, which see your IP address the same way any website you visit does.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with:
- Service providers who work for us under contract and may not use the data for their own purposes: Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (website hosting and analytics), Google (analytics), and Resend (email delivery, including whether an email was opened or a link clicked).
- Vinoshipper, which sells and ships the wine as merchant of record. When you add wine to the cart we pass Vinoshipper the random visitor and session IDs so the completed order can be connected to your visit. Vinoshipper is an independent business with its own privacy policy.
- Professional advisers and authorities when required by law, including alcohol-beverage regulators, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
- A successor if the winery or its assets are sold or merged; we would tell you before your information became subject to a different policy.
How long we keep information
- Newsletter and customer records: while you are subscribed or a customer. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email on a suppression list so we do not email you again, and we delete the rest of your marketing record within 24 months.
- Website activity: up to 25 months. The link between activity and your email is removed after 13 months.
- Order records: 7 years, as required by tax and alcohol-beverage recordkeeping rules.
- Google Analytics: 14 months.
- Information kept in your browser (the IDs above) stays until you clear it or opt out.
Your choices and rights
Everyone
- Unsubscribe from email using the link in any message, or by emailing us. We honor unsubscribes within 10 business days.
- Opt out of analytics on the Your Privacy Choices page, or by turning on DNT or GPC in your browser.
- Vinoshipper account information (orders, saved addresses, payment methods) is managed on vinoshipper.com; requests about that data go to Vinoshipper.
California residents (and anyone else — we apply these to everyone)
Whether or not the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to a winery of our size, you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you, where it came from, what we use it for, and whom we shared it with;
- delete it (we will keep what the law requires us to keep, such as order records, and your email on the suppression list);
- correct it; or
- give you a copy in a portable format.
Email marla@domaineriviere.com with the subject “Privacy request,” or write to the address below, or call 707-888-1598. We will confirm your request by replying to the email address on file (that is how we verify it is you) and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof that you gave them permission. We will never treat you differently for exercising these rights.
If you left a Google review that appears on our Reviews page and want it removed from our Site, email us and we will take it down; removing it from Google itself is done through your Google account.
Security
Personal information is stored in encrypted databases with access limited to the people who need it. The public part of our Site cannot read our customer records. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will notify you as required by law if a breach affects your information.
AI and automated systems
We do not use artificial intelligence to make decisions about you or to analyze your personal information. We allow AI search engines (such as those from OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, and Google) to read the public pages of our Site — the same pages any visitor can see — so that people asking those tools about Russian River Valley wine can find us. Your personal information is never on those pages. Some of the text and imagery on our Site is created with the help of AI tools and reviewed by our family before publication.
Children
Our Site and wines are for adults 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21; if you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you already gave us, we will email subscribers and customers before it takes effect and post a notice on the Site.
